Upon hearing about concern of youth related to their safety, adult and elder members of the LGBTQ2+ community wanted to offer ourselves as models of resilience. As adults and elders we want to offer our affirmations, reassurance, experience and skills to our community’s youth and their chosen accomplices.

As adults and elders, many of whom grew up in Alberta during the Klein years and before, we know not only what it is to survive in an adverse political climate, but to flourish, no matter the condition.

With the looming promise of reduced protections for LGBTQ2+ people, targeting youth in particular, we want to create space for our youth; we want to remain connected to one another; we want to create a place of refuge which will offer the chance to share skills and stories of resilience, and to socialize.

In short: queer youth, your community is here for you. We are looking forward to meeting you, hearing your stories, and sharing in the work to come.
